What is UFO

Thirty-four hectares, one idea rooted in the land.

Ubuntu Futures Organics is 34 hectares in Murehwa, about one hour from Harare — a place where the land sets the rhythm of the day.

Farm-to-table agriculture, arts and music, sport, hospitality and entertainment are planned together here, in harmony with the land rather than around it.

“Ubuntu — I am because we are.”

Four divisions

Everything happens in one place

Each part of the site feeds the others: the farm supplies the kitchens and the market, the grounds host the sport, and the stages bring the people who fill the rooms.

Farming

Farm-to-table agriculture: indigenous crops, orchards and livestock, grown to feed the site and the people who visit it.

Hospitality

Accommodation, dining and gathering spaces designed around the land, opening with our first rooms and hospitality venues.

Sport

Training and match grounds for football, athletics and community tournaments, built to host schools, clubs and visiting teams.

Culture & entertainment

A concert pavilion, studios and market spaces for musicians, artists and makers from Zimbabwe and the diaspora.

How we’re building it

Built in stages, in the right order.

From the ground up: the farm and infrastructure first, then the spaces that open the door, then the full destination.

  1. 1

    Now

    Groundwork & farm

Land, boreholes, surveys, design and test plantings — the foundations the whole site rests on.

  2. 2

    Phase 1

    Phase 1 opening

First accommodation, hospitality and cultural spaces opening to guests.

  3. 3

    In stages

    Full development

Hotel, sports ground, concert pavilion, market and workshops, built in stages.

The team

A founding team from Zimbabwe and the diaspora.

Music, sport, farming and hospitality — the people building UFO have worked across all of them.
